Rarity: a ski in, ski out chalet in Chamonix valley
There are just three catered chalets that are truly ski in, ski out chalets in Chamonix Valley.
That means out of the hundred-or-so chalets in Chamonix, we are envied by all for our special location.
We are situated perfectly, right on the 'Aillouds' blue piste of Les Houches - which means we are ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers, as well as mixed ability groups. Simply step into your skis, or strap on your snowboard, and you are ready to ski straight off the property and onto the piste.
At the end of the day, you simply ski straight back into the chalet - to be greeted with a steaming hot cup of tea or a mug of hot chocolate, and freshly baked cakes whilst you relax in front of the roaring log fire.... or we'll pick you up from the bar après-ski, if you prefer.
You see - your ski holiday should be about you: what you want to get out of it, what you want to experience, what you want to achieve with your skiing, what pleasures and emotions you want to experience. Here at Maison Jaune, we try really hard to ensure that you have the best time possible.
For example:
In addition to ski in, ski out, when you choose to stay at Maison Jaune fully catered, we will drive you to any of the other four ski stations in Chamonix valley... or perhaps Courmayeur in Italy - just a short drive away?
This also means you are not limited to skiing in Les Houches only - instead, you can experience ALL the ski stations in Chamonix valley and beyond... This has the added bonus that you will always experience the best snow conditions available.
Ease those aching limbs in the hot tub
After a long hard day's skiing, nothing is better than being able to relax your tired muscles sipping a chilled beer, or a glass of Champagne, in the hot tub, laughing with friends, whilst the sunset turns the snow-capped mountains all around you a rich shade of burgundy.
Relax with live musical entertainment
Then enjoy early evening cocktails with live musical entertainment from our resident classical and jazz pianist. From Chopin classics to honky tonk... If anyone in your group is musical, we also have a guitar if you fancy a sing-a-long.

Fantastic chalet facilities
If you are tired, or the weather isn't so great, you can chill out in front of the roaring log fire on the sofa to watch one of over 350 movies from our multimedia entertainment system with surround sound on our giant 42" plasma screen, or listen to some great music : plug your iPod in, or alternatively, select from our range of over 15,000 mp3s.
You can surf the internet - using either the guest computer, or via the Wi-Fi installed in the chalet.
You can enjoy playing on our new Nintendo Wii - with WiiFit, 2 remotes, nunchuks and a selection of games.
Alternatively, you could simply curl up on the sofa by the fire with one of the hundreds of books available for you to enjoy in the lounge.
Chamonix Catered or Self-catered?
In the Summer, Chamonix chalet Maison Jaune operates as a B&B or can be hired as self-catered.
Situated right on the famous Tour du Mont-Blanc it is the perfect place to stay for walkers or mountain bikers in the Summer.
In the Winter, you can have the choice of the whole chalet self-catered, or catered where you can enjoy superb four-course restaurant-quality meals from the comfort of the chalet - wonderful local specialities and great free-flowing wine.
Chalet Maison Jaune is owner-run
We, Helen and Leighton, run the chalet ourselves. This means you do not run the risk of inexperienced "chalet hosts" on a gap year who have just finished a one week cooking course and are more interested in their skiing than your holiday, or having your "professional chef" quit just before you arrive on holiday.
Coming into our sixth year of continuous service - and with 20 years cumulative knowledge of Chamonix valley - we pride ourselves on the quality of our chalet food and service - which can only keep getting better, year after year!
Indeed, we were very proud to be nominated for the Times Chalet Chef competition 2010 by our former guests, and finished the competition in the top 3 in our class in a cook-off judged by a Michelin-starred chef, Tom Aikens, and the Times food and drink editor, amongst others.
