Things to do with Children in Chamonix in Summer

Many people think of Chamonix as an adventure playground for adults, however, there are lots of fun activities and places to go with children too.

Just some of the activities available...


Summer toboggan

Two parallel summer bob-sleigh runs, the longest in France. 1.3km long, with access by chair lift.
The Luge d’Eté is in the Parc des Loisirs which also includes an adventure park, playground & bungee trampoline.
From 8 years old, or 3-7 with an adult.
Prices from 5.50 euros, or 21 euros an hour (5 rides minimum)

Chamonix Leisure Park

Helter-skelter - 4 tracks, 40m long - (from 4 years), trampolines (4-12 years), jet splash boats (from 7 years), giant swings (from 7 years), loop-the-loops (from 7 years), zip cables (from 7 years), electric tricycles (3-10 years), diggers, outdoor playgrounds for 3-12 years
Rides cost 1-2 tokens, 6 tokens = 8 euros, 30 tokens = 30 euros

Tree top adventures

Fancy swinging through the trees like Tarzan? Do you have a head for heights?
Chamonix and Les Houches have five tree top adventure courses for children or adults.
Navigate a course from tree to tree through the forest, across rope bridges, tarzan swings, tyrolienne rope slides, gangways, ladders, climb cargo nets.
There are two courses for children near Lake Chavants in Les Houches (open daily in July/August from 10:00-18:00, plus an adult course in Coupeau, Les Houches
In addition, there are courses near Lake Gaillands in Chamonix, and one in Les Tignes.

Paintball

Location: the Bois du Bouchet, Chamonix
Open all days with prior reservation. 12 years old minimum, 18 persons max.
Prices: 16 euro per person.
Includes: 1 face mask, protection clothing, 1 ball proof vest, neck protection, a pair of gloves, paintabll gun and 100 paint ball.
Offering different scenarios to make each game more interesting, plus a referee will always be present to judge the game and make sure everyone is playing fair! Games lasts about 2 hours.

Go-karting

Location: near Lake Passy, Sallanches
Prices: 18 euros for 10 minutes on 270cc go-kart.
Open 9:30 - 20:30 non-stop in July/August.

Horse riding

Les Houches has a new equestrian centre where you can learn to ride or go on a longer rides, or even half or full day treks.
Prices: 27 euros for a one-hour lesson for beginners, 54 euros for two hours for confirmed riders.

Mini Golf

Open every day in July and August from 10:00 - 23:00
Location: 332, Montée Charles Bozon, Les Pélerins.

St. Bernards Farm

Open July and August from 10:00-11:00 and 14:00-18:30 (Closed Sundays and Monday morning
Location: 223 Chemin des Vorziers la Fontaine, near Servoz.

Merlet Nature Park

Merlet is a nature reserve set in 21 hectares of alpine pasture at 1,500 metres perched above Les Houches.
It shelters 8 wild animal species that roam freely: ibex, chamois, mouflon, roe, fallow and silka deer, marmots...     ...and llamas. Since the animals roam freely through the grounds, picnics are not allowed in the park, but here is a café where refreshments are available.
The tour of the park lasts 2 hours.
Prices: 7 euro adult, 4 euros children (4-14)
Open from 9:30 - 19:30 in July and August 10 - 18 in May, June & September (closed on Mondays)

Rock Climbing

With local adventure company, Evolution-2, you can join a rock climbing discovery course and learn how to climb with an experienced instructor.

Geocaching

Geocaching is a real-world treasure hunt using GPS-enabled devices (such as a smartphone).
You navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache container hidden at that location.
